Concordia Symphony Orchestra presents Set Free, at the Robert Tegler Student Centre (7128 Ada Blvd) on Sunday, December 8th, at 3:00pm.
The Concordia Symphony Orchestra presents “Set Free” on December 8, starring soprano Aidan Ferguson. She will interpret Isolde’s transfiguration in Wagner’s Prelude and the dramatic Liebestod, one of the most iconic pieces of the classical repertoire, and on the same theme of liberation and release through love lends her voice to Richard Strauss’s Befreit.
The program also includes Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 1, “Spring,” the composer's first venture into orchestral writing. A respected music critic, Schumann often elaborated his opinions from the point of view of his three imaginary characters Florestan, Eusebius, and Master Raro. Symphony No. 1 interweaves the conflicts of Schumann’s alter egos. It is impulsive. It is original. It is masterful.
The afternoon’s program concludes with an éclat of gypsy themes in Sergei Rachmaninov’s Caprice Bohémien. Not to be missed!
Tickets are $20 for adults, and $15 for Students and Seniors (65+), plus applicable fees.
Tickets are now available to purchase at the door, an hour before showtime.
